He became a U.S. citizen and developed a deep love for the Cleveland Guardians (formerly the Indians) and the Cleveland Browns. Despite his immersion in American life, his distinctive Scottish accent remained intact.

Lindsay is survived by his loving wife, Jane, of Jefferson, Georgia; daughter, Sarah Sloat (Spike Howard Sloat III) of Jefferson, Georgia; son-in-law Brian White of Tampa, Florida; and five cherished grandchildren: Kara Stevens (17), Fia White (14), Luna White (12), Evelyn Sloat (9), and Sofia Sloat (6). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ruth “Ruthie” White, and his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 3, at 3:00 PM at Highlands Senior Living, 50 Sumter Way, in Jefferson, Georgia. Burial will take place at a later date at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain, Ohio.
